A powerful register control enhances the value of any printing machine: With multi-color printing, the simpler, faster and more precise the registration, the less waste is incurred – which translates into more time for productive printing and higher print quality.
Our register controls are fully integrated into the SIMOTION controller and the Print Standard software package as function modules. This means that you won't need any additional control system or an extra control cabinet. As a result, the register control becomes an elementary component of the automated machine sequence control. We offer various sensor-based print mark sensing solutions with fiber-optic cables for wedge marks - as well as a camera-based solution for point marks. Thanks to the open, customer-specific, adaptable SIMATIC WinCC TIA user interface, the register control can also be integrated into the machine operating control and the automated sequence control.

The SIMOTION TRC1000 register control technology module is an intelligent optical sensor that operates with white light and high-quality gray value sensing. It is suitable for detecting and measuring all common block and wedge marks. The sensor comprises an evaluation unit, fiber-optic cable and specific accessories. It is operated on a SIMOTION control system via PROFINET IO with IRT. In conjunction with the SIMOTION Print Standard application, the register control can be directly integrated into the motion control system of printing and downstream processing machines (post print).

TRC1000 components are trade goods of Wiedeg Elektronik GmbH (www.wiedeg.de).
When used in a multi-color printing environment, a register control ensures consistent print quality – and is also used in post-print applications for synchronizing cut, embossing, punching or coating processes using registers. To achieve this, special print marks are printed in addition to the actual printed image.
In conjunction with the register control integrated in SIMOTION, Siemens also offers the SIMOTION TRC1000 wedge mark sensor for especially price-sensitive segments of the printing industry. It is especially suitable for coating and laminating processes in the converting domain.
As it is directly integrated into the motion control system of the machine, a register control is achieved that has a high level of performance and degree of reliability. It is favorably-priced and especially compact. Additional open-loop controls, operator panels or control cabinets are not required. Furthermore, it is not necessary to mount an additional encoder at the machine or printing cylinder.
The register control is made available based on the SIMOTION Print Standard Add On TRC1000 application. Workshops are available for experienced SIMOTION users.
The modular SIMOTION TRC1000 wedge mark sensor comprises the IDS-PN evaluation unit with intelligent measured value processing (1-channel as gray value) and specific accessories. It is directly connected to PROFINET IO with IRT via an integrated 2-port switch whereby it is integrated in the line topology of the real-time PROFINET network of the machine. It can be adapted to the particular measurement task or machine situation using the expansion accessories. The DS sensor module, for example, expands the basic device to include a second fiber-optic cable connection for measuring on the reverse side, or measuring marks that are located transversely. Both modules are connected to 24 V DC using a prefabricated cable (available in two lengths), and a connecting cable (open at one end). The fiber-optic cable is equipped with an optical system and can be plugged into the IDS-PN or the DS. The cable is available in two lengths. The optical system is attached to the machine and can be adjusted using the three-section fiber-optic mounting set and standard ITEM profile elements. Further, the optical power and measured value processing for special measurement tasks can be adjusted using the fiber-optic calibration tool.
